Lauriane Atienza joined the group in 2021 and now wears two hats: sales manager for AGS Records Management in French Guiana and the French West Indies, and head of the French Guiana storage centres. Every day she supports her customers as they digitise and archive their documents.
Her day-to-day challenge? Helping companies and local authorities understand the importance of managing their documents and archives securely. Document traceability is crucial. “This is an essential activity for companies that want to be legally compliant. To implement electronic invoicing, for example, digitisation processes need to be put in place,” says the woman with a background in engineering. While she acknowledges that digitisation is being adopted more slowly in the French West Indies than in mainland France, the transition is underway.
From client education…
When it comes to records management services, companies in French Guiana often don’t know it’s possible to outsource document storage. When they contact AGS Records Management it’s primarily to digitise their records, but they don’t have a strategy. “That’s where my teams come in. We accommodate our client’s requests but above all we adapt to their needs and share our expertise. It’s important to show them that digitisation is not the only answer to their records management problems – outsourcing offers real advantages too,” she stresses.
…to project implementation
AGS Records Management not only offers document digitisation services, but also a complete range of physical records management services. “From collecting physical documents for secure storage at our two facilities, to destroying them at the end of their lifecycles, my teams provide the best solutions for our customers,” stresses Lauriane Atienza. AGS Records Management also offers upstream audit and consultancy services to help companies sort and classify their existing archives.
Lauriane remembers when her team performed this service for the local prefecture. An AGS Records Management archivist was deployed to the prefecture’s offices to sort historical documents for the heritage department. “There were documents recounting the history of French Guiana, photos from various periods and exclusive archives,” she says. “It was a very rewarding project for me, and I was proud to see it come to fruition.”
The Group’s strength in document management services
As well as managing sales and dealing with customers, Lauriane Atienza is the daily link between the local team and the director, Sylvie Gentihomme, who is based in Martinique. In charge of seven employees in French Guiana, she also works with other AGS Records Management subsidiaries in mainland France. The advantage of belonging to a large group? “I never feel alone in my corner of the globe,” she says.
In 2025, a number of challenges await her: overseeing the completion of two new records management facilities in French Guiana and ensuring that AGS Records Management becomes known as the gold standard for records management in French Guiana and the West Indies.
