Mobilitas Group Launches ESG Awareness Training: A Key Step Towards a Sustainable Future

The Mobilitas Group has launched a group-wide internal training course to raise awareness for Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) topics. The course aims to embed sustainability into company culture and create a shared understanding of corporate sustainability amongst its employees who are spread across more than 100 countries. ESG Coordinator for MOBILITAS, Odin Kloppers, unveils the course curriculum and explains why now is the perfect moment to launch this educational initiative.

An education in ESG

Titled ESG Awareness, the training course covers key topics such as corporate sustainability, the principles of ESG, and the contents of four essential group-wide policies. These include the Code of Conduct, Code of Ethics, Environmental Sustainability Procedure, and the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) Procedure. The goal is to familiarise staff with these foundational frameworks and encourage everyone to apply them in their daily work.

The course also addresses practical matters, such as creating a respectful workplace – differentiating between jokes and harassment – and promoting sustainable business travel. “We want our employees to understand the importance of sustainability in a practical way and apply it on a daily basis, from the choices they make at work to the way they travel,” Cedric Castro, Mobilitas Group CEO explains.

By the end of the training, participants should understand the concept of sustainability, how ESG risks could affect business continuity, and how their participation can contribute to the company’s long-term sustainability goals.

A priority for everyone

How Mobilitas Focuses on a Good Sustainability Plan, Showcasing It's Importance in Business

The course comes after Mobilitas consulted internal and external stakeholders to set its own ESG priorities, an in-depth process that took more than six months. Now the way forward has been decided, Odin stresses that involving employees in the group’s sustainability journey is vital. “It’s important that all our staff understand what’s happening, how it might affect their work life, and how they can contribute to the group-wide goals.”

Since its launch just two weeks ago, the ESG Awareness training course has already been completed by over 650 employees, who have rated it 4.9 out of 5. The high participation rate indicates a shared enthusiasm for learning more about sustainability and its importance in business.

Expanding ESG training at Mobilitas

Over the next two years, more ESG training sessions will be added to the Mobilitas internal training catalogue, including short courses to boost awareness around workplace sustainability and a more in-depth series on sustainability.

The series will cover topics such as climate change, its link to inequality and upcoming regulations. There are also plans to introduce a DE&I (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) training programme that offers practical tools to promote inclusivity across the organisation. On the cards for 2025, Odin plans to organise a webinar series for branch managers that focuses on sustainable actions to implement in the workplace.

The launch of this training initiative is an important step for the Mobilitas Group in achieving its long-term sustainability goals, and it is Odin’s goal that all employees will contribute to this shared effort. As the company continues to develop its training courses on a broad range of topics, it’s clear that ESG will remain a priority.
